OS X Update Includes Flash Player 9.0.28

Apple released an OS X update today (10.4.9) which among several bug fixes also includes Flash Player 9.0.28. This means that anyone on a Mac who installs the update -- which I am assuming will be most users since it automatically prompts you as soon as you reboot your machine -- will automatically have the latest version of the Flash Player installed.

IMO this is huge because it will have a significant push on the adoption rate numbers, and will continue the push of Flex as a significant development platform.

Hey Adobe, think Microsoft will go for something like this in one of their monthly updates? Wishful thinking anyways...

I first read this on John Dowdell's blog, who works for Adobe.

SEC Helping the War on Spam

I came across this post on Google's blog about how the SEC has decided to suspend trading of stocks that are frequent targets of spam scams. What a brilliant idea! As Google's blog puts it, by taking this action the SEC is "hitting spammers where it hurts". With an estimated 100 million of these emails sent a week, it may just make a small dent in this issue.

Almost equally brilliant is the project code name: "Operation Spamalot". Don't get it? Click here.

Adobe CS3 To Be Announced March 27th

Adobe CS3 Icons Color Wheel

I'll bet this has been blogged about quite a bit today, but maybe it is worth posting again: Adobe CS3 will be formally announced on March 27th. I found this post on an official Adobe blog that speaks to the release. One thing to note is that while the apps will be offically announced on the 27th, they won't actually be shipping until later in the Spring. Here's hoping that they release a complete feature listing on the 27th.

As a side note, I noticed my beta of Fireworks CS3 expired today, so this date may have been planned for some time now.

[Update: a new build of Fireworks was released with an extended cutoff date, I just hadn't checked or downloaded it.]
