Along with the rest of the CS3 bundle, Flash CS3 was released today. Most of the features had already been announced at various conferences, but nonetheless this is very exciting. I personally am especially excited about the native Illustrator importing -- we use Illustrator on about 90% of our projects at XPLANE, and not having to deal with the pain of importing those files will be a huge help.
Mike Downey has more information and a quick-and-dirty feature listing on his website:

I had previously posted about my love for 4smartphone, the hosted Exchange service I use for my email. Recently I've had several extended outages (6-12 hrs), and this time around I think I may have decided it has become unacceptable. My email hasn't been up and running since around 10pm PST last night -- no Outlook Web Access, no Treo 700w syncing, and no Outlook syncing.
So I decided to hop over to their website to send a support request, and this is what I was met with, "Solutions to common support issues":

Normally a page like this wouldn't bother me, but the page title tells you how often this happens -- even they say this is a "common support issue". Too funny. Not to mention that the attitude they are taking is "Don't tell us, we already know." I even tried searching around Google and came up with a lot of others have the same issues.
I think I'll pass this one along to the guys at 37signals for their blog, Signal vs Noise and its frequent "Screens around town" posts.
So, does anyone know of any good hosted Exchange services? The major points for me are 1 GB storage and stability.
BriteMac has just released VM2Go 1.2, the first third-party application for Parallels.
VM2Go allows you to migrate your Parallels virtual machines to removable media such as an iPod or USB thumb drive. This would allow you to run your VM in a secure environment from any computer with Parallels installed. In addition, the software will also allow you to backup your VM quickly and easily.
BriteMac offers a free trial of the software on their website.
I came across this post on Google's blog about how the SEC has decided to suspend trading of stocks that are frequent targets of spam scams. What a brilliant idea! As Google's blog puts it, by taking this action the SEC is "hitting spammers where it hurts". With an estimated 100 million of these emails sent a week, it may just make a small dent in this issue.
Almost equally brilliant is the project code name: "Operation Spamalot". Don't get it? Click here.

In an effort to make the switch to Vista as painless as possible, Microsoft is giving away Virtual PC 2007 as a free download on their website. The idea is that users can install Vista and then use Virtual PC to setup a virtual environment with Windows XP installed. Then if there are any issues running their favorite apps under Vista, they can just fire up the virtualized copy of XP. I first read about this at Yahoo! News.
To be clear, I was a bit confused at first because my only experience with Virtual PC was in OS X, where you could run Windows on your Mac... before they had Intel processors. But, this one is all Windows, as it requires Vista Enterprise/Ultimate or XP Professional/Tablet PC to be the host OS.
I had been a die hard Windows guy for years until I finally switched about 4 months ago, and I still always have a copy of XP running in Parallels non-stop. But really, with this approach Microsoft sure isn't screaming that Vista is stable and compatible...
This reminds me - hop over to Brendan Dawes' site for a blog entry he wrote about his recent trip to Microsoft headquarters in Redmond:
"I have to admit I didn't know what to expect meeting people who worked at Microsoft - a company that many people love to hate. But without exception everyone was passionate about what they were doing there - with creativity and the love of good design seeming to be at the heart of everything they do. I didn't think I'd ever be using the words Microsoft and creativity in the same paragraph but I've been there and met some of the people who are trying to change the perception of Microsoft and it was very inspiring."
